The programme was initially launched in July 2001, but has since been expanded in its scope in 2005-06. The SHGs component of the Programme is being implemented by Rural Development Department and the Self-employment Programme (SEP) component is being implemented by State I&C Department. Under the Programme, the subsidy admissible is 25% of the Project Cost, Subject to ceiling of Rs.25,000 per person or Rs.2.50 lakhs, whichever is lower.
