Sericulture

Sericulture and Weaving provide important rural base industry for the development of the State. Development programmes through sericulture in respect of Mulberry, Eri and Muga plantations and also plantation of food plants for silkworms could enhance the production. Apparently, sericulture has a good scope in the hilly area of the State. Development of Sericulture could also help developing handloom weaving industry. Introduction of modern improved looms or accessories could also provide production of quality fabrics. Cotton industry on weaving could also be intensified and as such, could provide employment to rural folks as a full time or a part time occupation.
